“I heard the noise, the roar, as if a thousand cars were moving, and I came out and was standing on the street. The noise was gradually approaching, and then a tank column appeared. Nobody’s around, I’m standing alone on the street. Who are they? Hard to tell – they had a flagstaff, but no flag on it. <…> It was a very big column, lots of machines and lots of soldiers sitting on each tank… And then it turned out that those shots that we had heard before – this was about one man, a patriot, who came out against the tanks with a hunting rifle. When he saw the column, he got in front of it, just with a hunting rifle. And they discharged their machine gun, and he fell down. Neighbors saw this and called his son: “Your father was wounded, he doesn’t move.” And the son came in his car, and started pulling his father into the car – and the column kept on moving, and they discharged their machine gun again, and wasted them both, father and son” (UJRI_041_AVYaSh)
