Jews in the Ethnic Mosaic of the Ukrainian Lands | Leonid Nevzlin Research Center

Jews in the Ethnic Mosaic of the Ukrainian Lands

Date:
Mon, 03/09/2018 to Wed, 05/09/2018
Location:
Rivne, Ukraine

Organised by the “Center for Interethnic Relations Research in Eastern Europe,” headed by the researcher of the Holocaust in Ukraine,  Dr. Yuri Radchenko. The co-organizer of the event was the Center for Studies of Memory Policy and Public History “Mnemonics”.  The conference was supported by the Leonid Nevzlin Research Center for Russian and East European Jewry (Support of the Events Organized by the Alumni of the Forum of Young Scholars) and the Ukrainian Jewish Encounter Initiative (Mississauga, Canada).

The organizers combined the traditional format with certain innovations. Therefore, traditionally the young scholars presented their research followed by the discussion and feedback from the invited experts, such as Dr. Alexis Hofmeister (Basel), Prof. Yaroslav Hrytsak (Lviv), Prof. Maksym Hon (Rivne), Dr. Vladyslava Moskalets (Lviv), Dr. Yuri Radchenko (Kharkiv), and Dr. Artem Kharchenko (Kharkiv). For the first time, however, the organizers decided to change the conference’s location. Rivne was selected instead of traditional Kharkiv, which gave the opportunity to strengthen cooperation between academic nonprofit organizations in different regions, as well as to widen the networks among Jewish studies scholars.
